Operating indicators for February 2012

Passenger traffic at Singapore Changi Airport increased 11.2% to 3.77 million in February 2012, which this year had 29 days.  There was strong travel demand across all regions with traffic between Singapore and the Middle East growing by more than 20%.  Other regions – the Americas, Europe, South Asia and Southeast Asia – also grew by double digits.  Aircraft landings and take-offs increased 13.1% to 24,900 flights, corresponding with the growth in passenger traffic.

Cargo movements, which decreased 7.1% in January 2012 due to the Lunar New Year holidays, rebounded in February 2012 with Changi Airport handling 143,900 tonnes of cargo, an increase of 12.4% over the same month last year.  Disregarding the impact of the Lunar New Year holidays, airfreight movements grew 2.0% year-on-year during the January-February 2012 period.

As at 1 March 2012, Changi Airport serves some 100 airlines operating more than 6,100 weekly flights connecting Singapore to over 220 cities in 60 countries and territories.

Other highlights at Changi

New Outlets – Travellers and airport visitors can now enjoy more shopping options with the opening of Lacoste and DFS Fashion Avenue in the Departure Transit Malls of Terminals 2 and 3 respectively.  The first phase opening of DFS Fashion Avenue features brands such as Tumi, Chloe and Michael Kors.  Over in the public areas, Changi Airport welcomed the launch of health and reflexology outlet Wan Yang at Terminal 3’s Basement 2 and eatery Heavenly Wang at Terminal 2’s Departure Hall.

Changi Airport opened the year on a strong note with 4.24 million passengers passing through the airport in January 2012. Apart from December 2011, this is the highest number of passenger movements Changi has handled in a month, representing an increase of 12.1% over the same month last year. Air traffic movements grew in tandem, clocking 27,600 aircraft movements, 14.9% more than a year ago.

Singapore Changi Airport handled 4.4 million passenger movements in June 2012, 9.7% more than a year before. There were 26,700 landings and take-offs at Changi during the month, a growth of 6.4% year-on-year.

The number of passenger movements at Singapore Changi Airport increased 4.5% on-year to 4.36 million in July 2012. Air traffic movements grew in tandem, with 27,100 landings and take-offs recorded at Changi during the month, or 4.6% more compared to a year ago.

Singapore Changi Airport handled some 4.28 million passenger movements in August 2012, an increase of 10.9% compared to a year ago. Air traffic movements for the month also grew by 6.5% to 27,400 flights.

Passenger traffic at Singapore Changi Airport grew 3.2% on-year in October 2013, with 4.41 million passengers passing through the airport. Aircraft landings and takeoffs rose by 6.7% to 29,500. In terms of airfreight movements, Changi Airport handled 157,400 tonnes of cargo, an increase of 1.8% compared to a year ago.

Singapore Changi Airport was honoured by the cargo industry at the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Shanghai this evening. Changi Airport took home the Best Airport in Asia award for the 26th consecutive year and also picked up the Best Green Service Provider – Airport award for its focus on sustainable practices.

Singapore Changi Airport managed 4.21 million passenger movements in April 2012, 12.7% higher than the same month last year. Aircraft movements increased correspondingly by 8.8% to 26,400 movements.
