Changi Airport opened the year on a strong note with 4.24 million passengers passing through the airport in January 2012. Apart from December 2011, this is the highest number of passenger movements Changi has handled in a month, representing an increase of 12.1% over the same month last year. Air traffic movements grew in tandem, clocking 27,600 aircraft movements, 14.9% more than a year ago.
SINGAPORE, 12 February 2012 – A 26 year-old Australian engineer from Perth received a windfall of S$1 million in cash at Changi Airport’s second ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ Grand Draw today. Ms Jessica Down beat six other finalists to emerge the overall winner of the seven-month long retail promotion, which culminated in a dramatic grand finale at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 this afternoon.
Singapore Changi Airport has closed 2011 on a positive note. During the year, Changi Airport achieved new records for passenger traffic and aircraft movements. At the same time, cargo movements recovered to 2008 pre-crisis levels. Changi continued to be highly regarded by travellers around the world with the airport receiving 23 accolades during the year.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) paid tribute to its airport partners at the Annual Airport Celebration. The airport community was lauded for its service excellence and outstanding contributions in 2011. For the first time, the service awards have been conferred on not only front-line personnel, but also presented to support and maintenance staff from Changi Airport’s agencies.
SINGAPORE, 3 January 2012 – All seven monthly finalists of the ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ Draw in 2011 have been drawn, with the last finalist being a 38-year-old Singaporean. On 12 February, they will gather together at Changi Airport for a final showdown, which will see the luckiest among them walking away with a million-dollar in cash fortune.
