In May 2012, 4.09 million travellers passed through Singapore Changi Airport, an increase of 8.4% compared to a year ago. Flight movements at Changi increased 8.0%, corresponding with the growth in passenger movements.
Singapore Changi Airport was honoured by the cargo industry at the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Shanghai this evening. Changi Airport took home the Best Airport in Asia award for the 26th consecutive year and also picked up the Best Green Service Provider – Airport award for its focus on sustainable practices.
Changi Airport Group honoured its top airline partners this evening at the 7th Changi Airline Awards held at the Shangri-La Hotel. The event was graced by Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs. The annual awards recognise the partnership of airlines operating at Changi Airport and their contributions towards making it a vibrant and world-class air hub.
Singapore Changi Airport has closed 2011 on a positive note. During the year, Changi Airport achieved new records for passenger traffic and aircraft movements. At the same time, cargo movements recovered to 2008 pre-crisis levels. Changi continued to be highly regarded by travellers around the world with the airport receiving 23 accolades during the year.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) paid tribute to its airport partners at the Annual Airport Celebration. The airport community was lauded for its service excellence and outstanding contributions in 2011. For the first time, the service awards have been conferred on not only front-line personnel, but also presented to support and maintenance staff from Changi Airport’s agencies.
Changi Airport handled 3.89 million passenger movements in November 2011, an increase of 7.4% over the same month last year. In the first 11 months of the year, more than 42 million passenger movements were registered, almost on par with the total number passing through Changi Airport for the whole of 2010. Aircraft movements grew in tandem by 15.9%, clocking close to 26,000 movements.
Singapore Changi Airport handled 3.82 million passenger movements in September 2011, an increase of 12.5% over the same month last year. Aircraft movements grew in tandem, increasing 16.4% to 25,500 movements during the month.
After crossing the 40-million passenger mark in mid- December, a strong finish during the year-end festive holiday season enabled Singapore Changi Airport to close a successful 2010 with more than 42.0 million passenger movements during the year. This is an increase of 13.0% over 2009, and surpasses the previous annual record of 37.7 million passenger movements recorded in 2008.
