Transiting in Singapore just became more attractive with the launch of the Changi Transit Programme. From 1 October 2012 to 31 March 2014, eligible Singapore Airlines and SilkAir customers transiting at Changi Airport will be issued S$20 worth of Changi Dollar Vouchers (CDVs) each.

Singapore Changi Airport managed 4.28 million passenger movements in March 2012, representing the highest number of passengers ever handled at Changi during the month of March. Passenger traffic for the month increased 15.3% year-on-year, in tandem with the increase in aircraft movements which grew 10.6% to 27,000. Airfreight movements decreased 1.8% to 163,000 tonnes during the month.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) today announced that it will close Singapore Changi Airport’s Budget Terminal on 25 September 2012. The terminal will be demolished to make way for the construction of a larger passenger building so as to cater to the continued growth of air traffic at Changi Airport and further strengthen Singapore’s air hub status.

In the first 11 months of the year, more than 42 million passenger movements were registered, almost on par with the total number passing through Changi Airport for the whole of 2010. Aircraft movements grew in tandem by 15.9%, clocking close to 26,000 movements.
